This standard presents a procedure for the evaluation of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe and tubulars for use in oilfield service. FRP pipe systems include the pipe or tube body, connections, fittings, and adhesive and elastomeric seals. This standard is intended only to evaluate the pipe or tube body; other components of FRP systems are outside the scope of this standard. This standard includes procedures for exposing the FRP pipe or tube to simulated oilfield environments and the determination of the comparativeapparent tensile strength. Pipes or tubes of different wall thickness may respond differently due to differences in the concentration gradients established through-wall produced by permeation of corrosive or reactive species in the environment. The purpose of this standard is to allow for the comparison of test data among test laboratories and provide a recognized test method to evaluate the compatibility of FRP pipe and tubulars for various oilfield applications.

This standard recommends the reagents to be used, describes the test specimens and test equipment to be used, and gives the test procedures to be followed. This standard describes seven environment categories: Sour Water Environments, Sweet Water Environments, HCl Environments, Mud Acid Environments, and Organic Acid Environments.

IEC 60287-2-1 Ed. 3.0 en:2023

Click here to purchase

This part of IEC 60287 is solely applicable to the conditions of steady-state operation of cables at all alternating voltages, and direct voltages up to 5 kV, buried directly in the ground, in ducts, in troughs or in steel pipes, both with and without partial drying-out of the soil, as well as cables in air. The term “steady state” is intended to mean a continuous constant current (100 % load factor) just sufficient to produce asymptotically the maximum conductor temperature, the surrounding ambient conditions being assumed constant.

This document provides formulae for thermal resistance.

The formulae given are essentially literal and designedly leave open the selection of certain important parameters. These can be divided into three groups:
– parameters related to construction of a cable (for example, thermal resistivity of insulating material) for which representative values have been selected based on published work;
– parameters related to the surrounding conditions which can vary widely, the selection of which depends on the country in which the cables are used or will be used;
– parameters which result from an agreement between manufacturer and user and which involve a margin for security of service (for example, maximum conductor temperature).

Equations given in this document for calculating the external thermal resistance of a cable buried directly in the ground or in a buried duct are for a limited number of installation conditions. Where analytical methods are not available for calculation of external thermal resistance finite element methods can be used. Guidance on the use of finite element methods for calculating cable current ratings is given in IEC TR 62095.

This standard is intended to be the primary source of information on deaerator cracking and isdirected toward operators and designers of deaerator equipment used in steam generation.Information presented in this standard reflects the work of the many individuals involved indocumenting the deaerator cracking problem and is based on studies of carbon steel units. Similarcracking has been found in blowdown flash tanks, sedimentation tanks, hot waterstorage/disengaging vessels, and steam and feedwater piping.

API Spec 19ICV

Click here to purchase

This specification provides the requirements for downhole interval control valves (ICV) as they are defined herein for use in the petroleum and natural gas industries. Included are the minimum requirements for a functional specification, design verification, design validation of performance ratings, manufacturing, functional evaluations, shipping, handling, and storage. Also included are requirements for downhole control modules which are necessary for the defined operations of the ICV.

ICVs conforming to this specification are not designated as well safety devices.

This specification does not include any additional requirements for high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) environments with a pressure rating greater than 103.4 MPa (15,000 psi) or with a temperature rating greater than 177 °C (350 °F).

This specification does not cover validation testing with gas medium.

This specification does not cover applications, installation, operation, and maintenance. Control systems components for the ICV which are designated for positions above the tubing hanger are not included.

Also not included are products covered under other API specifications and the following products: remotely operated gas lift valves, inflow control devices (ICD) and autonomous ICDs, through tubing mechanically operated sliding sleeves, valves designed to function a single time, well-condition-activated valves or well test tools. Also not included are secondary tools, control conduits including the connections, and reservoir monitoring devices not critical to the operation of the ICV. End connections of the ICV to the well conduit are not included.

IEC 61156-1 Ed. 4.0 b:2023

Click here to purchase

This part of IEC 61156 specifies the definitions, requirements and test methods of multicore, symmetrical pair and quad cables.

This document is applicable to communication systems such as local area networks (LANs) and data communication cables. It is also applicable to cables used for industrial applications, customer premises wiring and generic cabling comprising installation cables and cables for work area wiring which are defined in ISO/IEC 11801 (all parts).

The cables covered by this document are intended to operate with voltages and currents normally encountered in communication systems. While these cables are not intended to be used in conjunction with low impedance sources, for example the electric power supplies of public utility mains, they are intended to be used to support the delivery of low voltage remote powering applications including but not restricted to Power over Ethernet as specified in ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3. More information on the capacity to support these applications according to the installation practices are given in IEC 61156-1-4, IEC TR 61156-1-6 and ISO/IEC TS 29125.
